Recording and Submitting Video
Choose the recording method that works for your assignment. Open a section below for the steps and a link to the full instructions.
Blackboard Video Studio
Video Studio lets you record within Blackboard. At KCTCS, students can make a Video Studio recording up to 30 minutes long.
- Open the assignment or discussion response editor. Look for a camera icon or an Audio/Video option. Its label and position may vary.
- Choose the camera, microphone, screen, or combination that your assignment calls for. Check the microphone and camera selections before you start.
- Make a short test. You can preview and retake your recording before saving it.
- Save the recording, then complete the activity's Submit step. Reopen the activity to confirm your response went through.
On a phone or tablet: In the Blackboard app, you may need to tap + in the response toolbar to find Audio/Video. The toolbar can look crowded on a small screen. If your assignment allows a video upload, you can record with your device’s camera first and upload the saved video instead.

Before you finish

- Allow time for the video to upload and process. Look for confirmation that your work was submitted.
