Academic Planner

Look ahead: sketch your next semesters and the questions to bring.

About 15 minutes 1 of 8 in this module

An academic plan is a rough map of where you're headed and what has to happen in what order.

Start rough and revise it with your Success Coach. Fill in your program of interest, the things to know before you plan, and your next semester plus a couple more. Then bring it, and your questions, to your advising appointment.

Look ahead

Lesson 6.4: Build a Simple Academic Plan walks you through how to think about each part.

Fill in your plan

Your plan saves in this browser as you go. Credit hours add up for each semester. Select Save as PDF to print it or bring it to your appointment. You may attach it to Mile Marker #6 if you like, but you don't have to.

Pathfinder Tip

Look up exact course names and requirements in the KCTCS catalog (opens in a new tab). Rough is fine for now. Your Success Coach will help you fill in the gaps.

In the print window, choose Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) as the printer. The file name will start with "Academic Planner".

Before your advising appointment

  • Bring your Career Coach results
  • Know your program of interest, or your top two
  • Have specific questions written out
  • Know your work and family schedule for next semester
  • Ask about application deadlines and entrance exams
  • Ask which courses are only offered certain semesters
