Pathfinder Guidebook · FYE 100 Module 6 · Map Your Path — Academic Planning
10 Essential Skills you'll build

Why this matters

Most students walk into advising appointments without a plan, and walk out with a generic schedule that may or may not fit their actual goals.

This module helps you explore programs that might fit, understand how credentials stack at OCTC, and build the specific questions that turn a routine appointment into a useful one.

What you'll be able to do

By the end of this module:

  1. Objective A: I can interpret my Career Coach or O*NET Interest Profiler results and connect them to at least one program or career direction at OCTC.

You'll show this in Mile Marker #6
  2. Objective B: I can describe the difference between certificates, diplomas, AAS degrees, and transfer pathways at OCTC.

You'll show this in Mile Marker #6
  3. Objective C: I can draft a realistic course load for next semester based on my goals, schedule, and program requirements.

You'll show this in Mile Marker #6
  4. Objective D: I can write five specific questions to bring to my Success Coach advising appointment.

You'll show this in Mile Marker #6
  5. Objective E: I can use AI responsibly to explore academic pathways without sharing personal identifying information.

You'll practice this in your course activities
