Setting Up Your Merit Page

Your Merit page is your official record of involvement and achievement at OCTC.

About 5 minutes 2 of 6 in this guide

Merit is OCTC's official student recognition platform.

It tracks your accomplishments, activities, and achievements throughout your time at OCTC, including the Merit activities for this course. Setting up your page takes less than ten minutes.

Can't get in yet? That's normal.

OCTC's Student Affairs office adds students to Merit after the add/drop period ends. If your invitation hasn't arrived, or your login doesn't work yet, wait a day or two and try again.

Still stuck after that? Let your instructor know. They'll follow up with the Student Affairs office for you.

What your Merit page does for you

  • Celebrates your involvement

Documents your participation in campus and community life beyond the classroom.

  • Builds your digital presence

A professional profile you can share with family, employers, and future programs.

  • Tracks your activities

A single place to record the events and activities you take part in, including the ones your courses ask for.

Set up your page

Check for your invitation email

Look in your KCTCS email for an invitation with this subject line:

"Claim Your Merit Page at Owensboro Community & Technical College"

Open it and select Claim My Page.

Didn't get the email?

Go to owensboro-kctcs.meritpages.com (opens in a new tab), select Sign In, then Forgot Password, and enter your KCTCS student email to activate your account.

Claim and personalize your page

Once you're logged in, take a few minutes to make it yours:

  1. Add a profile photo (optional, but encouraged).
  2. Review your bio and update your academic program, hometown, and goals.
  3. Link your LinkedIn profile if you have one.
  4. Review any preloaded achievements, such as Dean's List or program awards.
Pathfinder Tip

Keep your Merit page professional: a friendly photo, proper capitalization, and short, clear sentences. Think college résumé, not social media.

Stay connected

After you claim your page, you'll get notifications automatically when:

  • You attend a Merit-approved event
  • You're recognized for an achievement or milestone
  • OCTC adds new updates

Keep an eye on your KCTCS email for Merit updates.

Find and customize your profile URL

Merit assigns your page a web address when you claim it. To make it easier to share, go to My Account → Merit Page Settings. You can personalize the address and add profile and background photos there.

Pathfinder Tip

Copy your Merit page address and save it somewhere handy. You'll need it whenever you're asked to share your page.
