Where My Time Goes

Look back: an honest log of where your time and energy actually go.

About 5 minutes 1 of 10 in this module

Before you can plan your time well, you need an honest picture of where it's actually going: not the week you meant to have, but the one you really had.

This tracker is a reality check. For each day, jot down what you actually did in the morning, afternoon, and evening, and how your energy felt. It takes a few minutes at the end of the day. Nobody grades this log, and there are no wrong answers.

Pathfinder Tip

Start today. Aim for a full week. If your Mile Marker is due sooner, log as many days as you can. Even three honest days will show you something.

How to log honestly

  • Write what happened, not what you planned. "Meant to study, ended up on my phone" is more useful than "study."
  • Keep it short. A few words per block is plenty: "work shift," "class, then errands," "TV and scrolling."
  • Check your energy. Low, OK, or high. This is how you'll find your best hours.
  • Log it the same day. By tomorrow, you'll remember the day you meant to have.

Lesson 3.3 names common time-wasters. Lesson 3.5 explains energy.
