Why this matters
"Civic engagement" can sound like something for other people: politicians, organizers, people with way more free time than you. This module starts somewhere different, with the communities you're already part of and the everyday skill of seeing how they actually work.
It's also your working time for your STAR(T) Stories. Everything you've learned about yourself this semester (strengths, values, interests, and now community) is exactly what those stories are made of.
What you'll be able to do
By the end of this module:
-
Objective A: I can define community broadly and identify at least one community I already belong to and contribute to.
You'll show this in Mile Marker #11 -
Objective B: I can describe specific ways my everyday actions make a positive impact on the people around me.
You'll show this in Mile Marker #11 -
Objective C: I can connect my strengths and values to one intentional way I want to grow my community impact going forward.
You'll show this in Mile Marker #11 -
Objective D: I can select four experiences from my semester and match each one to an Essential Skill for my STAR(T) Story.
You'll show this in Mile Marker #11
